I commissioned the amazing Freyjinn to do a portrait of Imbati Aloran and Lady Tamelera from Mazes of Power. She’s an incredibly talented animator with a YouTube full of fun animation as well as speed-painting videos. Here’s the art:

She did an incredible job! Not only is this super gorgeous, but she worked really well within the Varin-world descriptions that I gave her. Ladies of the Grobal like Tamelera will never wear adornments that they associate with members of Lower castes, so they don’t wear necklaces (which would be too much like the castemark of Melumalai merchants) or earrings (because piercing yourself would be perceived as brutal and too much like the Arissen officer caste). Instead, they will have beautiful fashions, often including jewels on the fabric, and they will wear jeweled pins in their hair.
This gown is one of a set that Lady Tamelera ordered an artisan to design based on the sky. It is the dawn gown. I just love Freyjinn’s interpretation of it (look at those layers!). Such a fashion is unheard-of in a world where all the cities are underground. Generally speaking, Varini never use plant or flower motifs in their art. The wooden throne of the Eminence is an exception to this rule.
